Lake Bled alone is a very good reason to visit Slovenia. Located in the northwestern part of this tiny country populated by the Julian Alps and green forests, it’s a wonder anything so pristine still exists in the world. It’s nearly impossible to take a bad photo once faced with Lake Bled, its island complete with the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary, and snow capped mountains in the distance.
Lake Bled, in the foothills of the Julian Alps, has a magical mountain setting and access to a range of outdoor activities that give it all the appeal of a short break in Switzerland, but without the high prices.
Resorts, pletna boats and frilly restaurants may be intimidating to visitors on a budget. None of these mean that Lake Bled is off limits to those who want to make the most of their Slovenian euro.
